As a child, I spent  summers in Arequipa with my family, and it was during those cherished moments that my profound connection to food truly began. The rich culinary heritage of Arequipa became central to my development both as a cook and as a person.

Recently, during a trip to Arequipa with my partner and our friend, my cousin and I decided to take them on a culinary journey around the city. Starting at the lively Mercado San Camilo, we sampled the freshest ingredients and produce that Arequipa has to offer. We then strolled through the historic city center, soaking in the sights and sounds that make this place so enchanting.

But the highlight of the day was undoubtedly our visit to a traditional Picanteria. From the moment we stepped in, the wait staff and kitchen welcomed us with open arms, creating an atmosphere that felt just like home. The flavors of Arequipa’s cherished dishes danced on our taste buds, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts.

Our partner and friend, both seasoned travelers, were astounded and declared it the best day they had experienced in Peru. In that moment, my cousin and I knew that this extraordinary culinary adventure had to be shared with the rest of the world. And so, Lazo Tour Group was born.
